Brian Skabar was elected to the Legislative Assembly in 2009. He's
recently retired, after 31 years in the Federal Public Service, having
worked in various front line and management positions within the
Department of Indian Affairs and Northern Development and Health Canada.
Amherst has been home to the Skabar family for 21 years. He
graduated from the University of Winnipeg in History and Economics and
from Lakehead University with Honours in Social Work. Brian is the
former President of Union Locals in Thompson, MB and Amherst, NS for
the Public Service Alliance of Canada. He has also served on the Board
of Directors of the Cumberland YMCA.
Brian is and avid amateur athlete and enjoys cycling, jogging and spending time at the gym.
Brian is the proud father of four children: Lindsay, Thomas, Margaret and Lauren.
