Darrell grew up in a working family from Milton, Queens County. He served as an officer in the Canadian Navy before practicing law. Darrell was elected to Dartmouth City Council, chair the Dartmouth Downtown Development Corporation and went on to become an NDP MLA. As Leader of the Opposition Darrell Dexter is respected-even by his rivals. Darrell lives in Dartmouth with his wife Kelly and their teenage son.
